Syracuse basketball has already offered a half-dozen talented prospects in the 2023 class, and a new report from a recruiting analyst suggests that the Orange is taking a look at versatile guard Aaron Clark, who plays prep-school ball in New Jersey.

Jacob Polacheck, a college basketball writer and recruiting analyst for Zagsblog, details in an article a wide range of teams that are inquiring about Clark, and one of those squads is the ‘Cuse.

The 6-foot-6 Clark, a sophomore at the St. Benedict’s Preparatory School in Newark, N.J., is an under-rated shooting guard in the 2023 cycle. At his height and length, he would certainly thrive in the Orange’s 2-3 zone.

According to recruiting Web sites and interviews given by Clark, he holds close to 10 scholarship offers at this juncture, with additional teams displaying interest in him.

In a recent piece by recruiting guru Jake Weingarten, the founder of Stockrisers.com, Clark said that his offers have arrived from “TCU, St. John’s, Seton Hall, UMass, Bryant, Stony Brook, St. Peter’s, and Cleveland State.”

Per Polacheck’s story, Clark said that while teams can’t directly contact him, “the ones that talk to my coach the most are Seton Hall, St. John’s, TCU, Syracuse, Georgia, Iowa and Western Kentucky.”

Syracuse basketball is inquiring about 2023 guard Aaron Clark.

Regarding the ‘Cuse, Clark said to Polacheck, “I spoke with coach Allen Griffin last week on a three-way call with my AAU coach and my parents. The conversation was great. We spoke about the school and their style of play. He also told me some stuff to work on as a guard.”

While Clark isn’t presently ranked on a national scale in his class by some of the main recruiting services, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if that changes.

"Weingarten wrote about Clark, “He’s a 6-foot-6 guard that can score on all levels. He’s got tons of athleticism and he’s real versatile which gives him an advantage in defensive matchups but also makes him a multi-dimensional offensive player. … I expect this season to be a major one for him as the competition level is high in the state of New Jersey and a player with his upside and size/skill will thrive at a high level.”"

On the AAU circuit, Clark competes for the New Jersey Scholars Elite Basketball Club, which is located in Millburn, N.J. We’ll keep an eye on Clark’s recruitment to see if Syracuse basketball ends up offering him.
