Steve Angeli is one of the best pro-style quarterbacks across the 2022 cycle who has a flood of high-major offers, and now Syracuse football has entered the recruiting fray for the talented signal-caller.

The 6-foot-2 Angeli, a junior at Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, N.J., has compiled more than 20 scholarship offers, and he disclosed an offer from the Orange earlier this week via his Twitter page.

A top-15 pro-style quarterback in the 2022 class, Angeli is rated as four stars by Rivals.com, and he is placed as three stars by the 247Sports Composite and 247Sports.

To say that it would prove a wonderful pick-up for the ‘Cuse if Angeli ends up choosing the Orange is a huge understatement. However, the competition for Angeli is unbelievably intense.

According to a review of several primary recruiting services, Angeli holds offers from other high-quality squads such as Notre Dame, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Miami, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Boston College and Georgia Tech.

Mike McAllister, the publisher of SyracuseOnSI, writes in an article about the new Orange 2022 target, “In addition to Syracuse, Angeli says he is being recruited hard by Notre Dame, LSU, Oregon, Northwestern, MSU, Stanford, Nebraska, Rutgers, PSU, Iowa and Maryland among others.”

The Fighting Irish, which suited up as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference in football during the 2020 campaign amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, has received a ton of predictions from analysts and other recruiting insiders for Angeli on the 247Sports Web site and Rivals.com, although many of those prognostications came through last year.

Syracuse football is the latest to offer 2022 four-star quarterback Steve Angeli.

The 247Sports Composite slots Angeli at No. 345 overall in the 2022 cycle, as well as No. 15 at pro-style quarterback and No. 6 in New Jersey.

The 247Sports recruiting service itself puts him at No. 16 at his position and No. 7 in New Jersey. Rivals.com, meanwhile, has Angeli as the No. 13 pro-style quarterback and the No. 7 prospect in New Jersey.

Regarding the ‘Cuse, Angeli told McAllister, “I’m interested. They are right with the rest of my recruitment.”

Without question, Syracuse football fans would feel elated if Angeli ultimately decided to become a member of Orange Nation. But his recruitment would appear to have a long way to go.
