Syracuse basketball has scholarship offers out there to several 2022 point guards, including the talented Quadir Copeland.
The Orange offered the 6-foot-6 Copeland in November, and his length at the top of the ‘Cuse 2-3 zone is undeniably appealing to Syracuse basketball fans, myself included.
Some recruiting analysts have said that the Orange appears in a strong position with Copeland, although he does have multiple other high-major offers, including from Maryland, fellow Atlantic Coast Conference member Miami, Oregon, Penn State and several others.
Copeland, a junior at the Life Center Academy in Burlington, N.J., where former Syracuse basketball star Dion Waiters also suited up, is seeing his national ranking rise within the 247Sports Composite, although at three stars I believe he’s still under-rated.
Regardless of his significant talents on the court, what intrigues me about Copeland is his attitude, his mentality, his mindset. And I’ve never met or gotten to speak with this young man.
However, what Copeland has tweeted out here and there from his personal account over the past few months has really resonated with me.
Syracuse basketball would prove lucky to pick up 2022 point guard Quadir Copeland.
On Jan. 28, Copeland tweeted out, “the only disability in life is a bad attitude. stay humble,” and that definitely is something with which I wholeheartedly agree.

A handful of other tweets from Copeland, which I’ve pasted toward the end of this column, help to illustrate what I believe to be his admirable character.
Frankly, for me, high character is more important than what Copeland or any other ‘Cuse hoops prospect out there can do on a basketball court.
There are so many gifted high-school athletes in this country, but not all of them possess a commendable attitude. It sure seems that Copeland does.
So it’s awesome that he’s the No. 164 player nationally across the 2022 cycle as well as the No. 9 prospect in Pennsylvania, according to the 247Sports Composite.
I sincerely hope that Syracuse basketball remains in contention for Copeland as his recruiting moves along. He’s exceptionally skilled on the court, boasts a terrific philosophy on life, and ‘Cuse fans would love to see him in an Orange uniform down the road.

I just want to thank god for everything because you should’ve seen where I was a few years ago. It’s a light at the end of your tunnel too. just don’t stop in the middle because that’s the darkest spot💚
