Syracuse basketball 2021 commit Benny Williams is receiving high praise after high praise from recruiting pundits.

The 6-foot-8 Williams, listed as either a small forward or a power forward depending on the recruiting service, has moved up to five stars on the 247Sports Composite.

He is rated No. 25 nationally in the 2021 class according to the 247Sports Composite, as well as No. 7 at small forward and No. 4 in the state of Florida.

That new five-star designation from the 247Sports Composite comes not long after Williams made a jump in the updated national rankings from Rivals.com for the 2021 cycle.

Rivals.com recently placed Williams at No. 15 overall, up seven spots from his previous arrangement at No. 22 with that recruiting Web site, as well as No. 5 at small forward. He has been five stars via Rivals.com for several months now.

Syracuse basketball 2021 commit Benny Williams has expanded his five-star status.

Williams is having a strong senior stanza to date for the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., after transferring there from the St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Md.

He verbally committed to the ‘Cuse last June inked his national letter of intent with the Orange this past November. As Williams continues to climb up the national rankings from various recruiting services, he’s going to arrive on the Hill as one of the highest-rated recruits for Syracuse basketball in recent program history.

Williams, I believe, will end up rated as a five-star prospect by all of the main recruiting Web sites. At present, ESPN has Williams as four stars, No. 27 overall and No. 6 at power forward.

Over at 247Sports, he is a four-star player, No. 35 across the country in the 2021 class, No. 8 at small forward and No. 7 in Florida. Prep Hoops also has Williams at No. 35 nationally in his cycle.

I’m confident that these other recruiting services will eventually bump up the Orange commit to five stars, as well as a top-20 prospect overall, if not higher.

A lot of Syracuse basketball fans have lamented about the team’s recruiting efforts in recent years, and some of that frustration is valid. However, Williams is certainly providing the ‘Cuse with a huge recruiting win in the Orange’s class of 2021.
