Syracuse basketball continues to show interest in 2022 PG Bryce Lindsay
By Neil Adler
With 2022 five-star point guard Dior Johnson backing out of his verbal commitment to Syracuse basketball last November, that has turned attention to two other stars at this position who hold offers from the Orange, as well as an under-rated yet extremely talented player in Bryce Lindsay.
The ‘Cuse has offers out to a pair of 2022 point guards in four-star J.J. Starling out of the La Lumiere School in La Porte, Ind., as well as three-star Quadir Copeland with the Life Center Academy in Burlington, N.J.
And then there’s Lindsay, a 6-foot-3 point guard who is a junior at the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in Baltimore. Lindsay’s school, commonly known as Poly, is often one of the top high-school teams across the country.
Several months have passed since media articles first started to break about the Orange reportedly showing interest in Lindsay. He isn’t presently ranked on a national scale by most recruiting services, although I feel that he will be at some point.
Bryce Lindsay, a 2022 point guard, remains on the radar of Syracuse basketball.
Recruiting guru Jake Weingarten, the founder of Stockrisers.com, recently tweeted out, “2022’s Bryce Lindsay continues to hear from Syracuse.”
It does appear there is some buzz for Lindsay as it relates to the ‘Cuse, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he ultimately receives a scholarship offer from Syracuse basketball coaches.
Then again, with offers already out there to fellow 2022 point guards Starling and Copeland, who are both ranked higher than Lindsay, we’ll have to see how this situation plays out with Starling and Copeland, as well as a possible offer to Lindsay.
Per a review of several recruiting services, Lindsay’s most recent offer came from Marquette, and his other offers include from Virginia Tech, Georgetown, George Mason, VCU and Howard.
Based on articles written about Lindsay, interviews that he’s given, various recruiting Web sites and Lindsay’s own Twitter page, he holds interest from a bevy of squads, beyond the Orange.
These programs include Pittsburgh, Florida State, Clemson, Maryland, Florida, Indiana, Arizona, Arizona State, Creighton, Ole Miss, Purdue and Rutgers.
Recruiting analysts say that Lindsay has a strong work ethic, he’s a leader on the floor, he possesses terrific court vision, and his basketball IQ is exceptional. Without question, Lindsay would fit in wonderfully in the Syracuse basketball system.
