Hopefully, Syracuse basketball will offer elite 2023 forward Brandon Gardner.

A few months back, it was reported that Syracuse basketball had made an inquiry regarding 2023 three-star forward Brandon Gardner, and perhaps there was some interest by Orange coaches in the talented high-school prospect.

The 6-foot-7 Gardner, a small forward/power forward who is a sophomore at the Gray Collegiate Academy in West Columbia, S.C., is seeing his offer list grow, and it now stands at 10.

We’ll have to continue to monitor whether there is mutual interest between the ‘Cuse and Gardner moving forward, but I’d really like to see Syracuse basketball offer him a scholarship.

Recruiting analysts rave about his upside. Gardner is athletic, quick and physical, and he plays with a ton of energy. That is something which I believe Orange fans would welcome on the Hill.

In a recent interview with Jake Weingarten, the founder of Stockrisers.com, Gardner said that his offers include from high-majors such as Illinois, Clemson, Georgetown, Wake Forest, Wichita State and Ole Miss.

Additionally, and this is really worth noting here, Gardner says that he holds interest from “Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kansas.”

Well, well. Those are three blue-blood programs, and the rest of those teams that Gardner named are excellent, too.

Syracuse basketball should offer stellar 2023 forward Brandon Gardner.

Gardner isn’t rated by all of the primary recruiting services at this juncture, but then again, not all of these services have published national rankings yet for the 2023 cycle.

He is three stars according to 247Sports, which also places him at No. 42 overall, No. 9 at power forward and No. 3 in the state of South Carolina.

Additionally, Prep Hoops has Gardner as the No. 2 prospect in South Carolina, trailing only G.G. Jackson, who himself is an Orange target in this class.

The 6-foot-8 Jackson, a power forward and a sophomore at Ridge View High School in Columbia, S.C., received a scholarship offer from the ‘Cuse last August, and he is a four-star, top-30 player in the 2023 cycle, per 247Sports.

I’m cool with this pair of South Carolina high-school stars teaming up in Central New York. Just saying.

Gardner recently participated in the Beach Ball Classic, an annual tournament held in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Eric Bossi, the national basketball director for 247Sports, had this to say, in part, about Gardner.

"“He’s an active athlete, can really move up and down the floor and plays above the rim. I’ll be looking forward to seeing his progression over the years but he looks like a legitimate high major prospect to me and already reports 10 scholarship offers.”"

Let’s get in the mix for Gardner, Syracuse basketball!
