Syracuse basketball 2023 target G.G. Jackson sees his recruitment grow.

In early August, Syracuse basketball became the first team to offer a scholarship to G.G. Jackson, a four-star, top-30 player in the 2023 class. Hopefully, that Orange coaches got in early with Jackson will pay off in the long run.

Per Jackson’s Twitter page, he recently obtained a new offer from former Big East Conference rival Georgetown, which is scheduled to travel to Central New York for a non-conference bruiser this coming Saturday night against the ‘Cuse from the Carrier Dome.

Besides the Orange and the Hoyas, Jackson’s other offers to date are from fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squads Clemson, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, along with in-state South Carolina.

In an interview with recruiting guru Jake Weingarten, the founder of Stockrisers.com, Jackson had this to say about the ‘Cuse. “I like Syracuse a lot because they were the first to come and they have a great hall of fame coach and produced big-time players.”

Jackson, by the way, is a 6-foot-8 power forward and a sophomore at Ridge View High School in Columbia, S.C.

G.G. Jackson, an excellent 2023 forward, gives high praise to Syracuse basketball.

At this juncture, 247Sports rates the four-star Jackson as No. 29 overall in the 2023 cycle, No. 4 at power forward and No. 2 in the state of South Carolina.

Hoops Central has him at No. 31 in the 2023 class, while Prep Hoops arranges Jackson at No. 39 nationally.

Given recruiting limitations brought on by the novel coronavirus pandemic, Jackson’s offer sheet is likely smaller than it would normally prove, however, I do expect his recruitment to continue growing on a national scale.

Recruiting analysts describe Jackson as an athletic and long forward who shoots well from the perimeter but also can score with proficiency in the paint. He’s also a terrific defender who would thrive in the Orange 2-3 zone.

"Jackson told Weingarten that he’s focused on capturing a state title, and he characterizes his craft in this manner. “My game is sort of a point-forward type build because I get you with the footwork but also take you off the dribble, and I might even step back a hit a jumper too. On the defensive end, my size and my big frame and agility allow me to guard a lot of positions on the floor and I rebound a lot and block shots.”"
