We’re hoping that Syracuse basketball offers 2022 guard Louis Hutchinson.

Over the summer, word broke that Syracuse basketball reportedly was showing interest in under-rated 2022 combo guard Louis Hutchinson.

To date, a scholarship offer from the Orange to Hutchinson hasn’t arrived, although I’m hopeful that ultimately ‘Cuse coaches will pledge an offer to the talented 6-foot-7 guard.

At this juncture in his recruitment, Hutchinson holds offers from Memphis, Mississippi State, Howard and Mount St. Mary’s, he said in a recent interview with Jake Weingarten, the founder of Stockrisers.com. That offer list is confirmed by Hutchinson’s Twitter page as well as various recruiting Web sites.

Without question, Hutchinson should see a ton more high-major offers come his way. He told Weingarten that he also has “solid interest” from teams such as Syracuse basketball, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Maryland, Tennessee, Georgia, Tulsa, UCLA, George Mason and Princeton.

For now, Hutchinson isn’t ranked on a national scale by the primary recruiting services, but these ratings aren’t everything, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he ends up as a four-star, top-100 player in the 2022 cycle.

Syracuse basketball has reportedly shown interest in 2022 guard Louis Hutchinson.

Hutchinson is a junior at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., where he transferred to from Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va. The Orange has numerous connections to the IMG Academy, which is often one of the best high-school basketball programs across the country.

‘Cuse sophomore center Jesse Edwards went to the IMG Academy. Benny Williams, a five-star forward in the 2021 class per Rivals.com, is a senior at the IMG Academy and has committed to Syracuse basketball.

Meanwhile, Orange 2022 target Jarace Walker, a five-star forward, is a junior at the IMG Academy.

"Switching back to Hutchinson, since joining the IMG Academy, he detailed to Weingarten how his game has gotten better. “My shot has improved even more and my explosiveness has skyrocketed. I have become stronger, a relentless facilitator, a quicker and faster defender of three to four positions for 94 feet, and I could always score at all three levels. My relentless work ethic is also welcomed here, allowing me to continue to improve.”"

As an athletic, tall guard, Hutchinson is quite versatile. It seems that he can suit up at point guard, shooting guard and even small forward. He excels on defense and in the rebounding department, and Hutchinson boasts a strong basketball IQ and overall court vision.

From my perspective, he would thrive in a Syracuse basketball uniform.

Next. Good feeling about Syracuse basketball, five-star Brandon Huntley-Hatfield. dark
