Syracuse basketball only recently offered elite 2022 power forward Brandon Huntley-Hatfield.

Syracuse basketball may have seen 2022 five-star point guard Dior Johnson move on, but the Orange is still well-positioned to thrive in this cycle, with the team now heavily in the mix for top-10 player Brandon Huntley-Hatfield.

The 6-foot-9 Huntley-Hatfield, a power forward, received a scholarship offer from Syracuse basketball a mere few days ago, however, several recruiting analysts are saying that the Orange is in a strong position with the five-star prospect.

Previously, he had a top five of Auburn, Kansas, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Wake Forest, and media reports indicate that the ‘Cuse is now added to his group of finalists.

Since Huntley-Hatfield had already disclosed a top five, and the ‘Cuse is just offering him now, my sense is that Syracuse basketball coaches feel they have a legitimate chance at securing his services. Otherwise, why offer Huntley-Hatfield at this point?

Huntley-Hatfield is a junior at Scotland Campus, a prep school in Scotland, Pa. He transferred there from the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

The IMG Academy, by the way, is the current prep-school home of Orange 2021 commit Benny Williams, a five-star small forward. Conversely, ‘Cuse freshman small forward Chaz Owens attended Scotland Campus prior to joining the Orange.

Here are the details on new Syracuse basketball 2022 target Brandon Huntley-Hatfield.

Per recruiting experts, Ole Miss has received a lot of buzz for Huntley-Hatfield for a while now, but his finalists provide stiff competition, including the newest contender, the ‘Cuse.

There’s also the possibility that he may consider reclassifying into the 2021 cycle. Presently, the Orange has 13 scholarship players, two seniors and Williams in its 2021 class.

It would seem, then, that Syracuse basketball would have at least one scholarship available should Huntley-Hatfield choose the ‘Cuse and reclassify into 2021.

He is universally rated as five stars and a top-10 prospect nationally in the 2022 cycle according to the main recruiting Web sites. Huntley-Hatfield is No. 4 at ESPN.com, No. 6 at the 247Sports Composite, No. 7 at 247Sports and Prep Hoops, and No. 8 at Rivals.com.

At the power-forward position, he is No. 1 across the country within the 2022 class, per ESPN.com, the 247Sports Composite and 247Sports.

I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but Huntley-Hatfield and Williams would make a dream pairing in 2021, and Huntley-Hatfield headlining the Syracuse basketball 2022 cycle would also prove stellar.
