The Syracuse Orange got totally shut out in the FanSided 250.

The Syracuse Orange fan base is extremely passionate in basketball, quite frustrated in football, and absolutely loyal in other sports such as lacrosse.

Still, on a national scale and as compared with its collegiate peers around the country, it appears that Syracuse falls short of numerous other big-time universities in the Atlantic Coast Conference as well as in other Power Five leagues.

FanSided, a fast-growing network of sports, entertainment and lifestyle Web sites, including Inside The Loud House, has released its annual celebration of fandom known as the FanSided 250. Our beloved Syracuse, unfortunately, didn’t make the cut.

Whether or not the Orange got hosed is something that I’ll leave up to my fellow Syracuse fans to debate, however, the FanSided 250 is a really exciting and interesting feature nonetheless.

"The FanSided 250 Web site says in part, “Our list has evolved into a ranking of the ‘hottest’ 250 fandoms of the year, whereas previous years’ lists have focused on identifying and ranking the ‘best’ fan bases. We’re looking at the things that made you a fan this year: the people, teams, and things that gave us moments to root for.”"

The FanSided 250 hottest fandoms don’t have the Syracuse Orange in the field.

In the college section of the FanSided 250, there are 26 squads included, some of which are quite intriguing.

Clemson is No. 14, followed by LSU at No. 17, Alabama at No. 19, Georgia at No. 40, Ohio State at No. 45, Oklahoma at No. 46, Auburn at No. 76, Penn State at No. 81, Duke at No. 83, Oregon at No. 88, Notre Dame at No. 90, Texas at No. 92, Miami at No. 101, Kentucky at No. 107, Michigan at No. 112, North Carolina at No. 115, Minnesota at No. 145, Baylor at No. 171, Nebraska at No. 178, Iowa at No. 195, Arizona State at No. 208, Utah at No. 221, Memphis at No. 225, Stanford at No. 236, North Dakota State at No. 243 and West Virginia at No. 244.

So what do you think? Did the Syracuse Orange get snubbed?

By the way, the overall top 10, in order, is the Los Angeles Lakers, Patrick Mahomes, The Child, LeBron James, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Lionel Messi, the Kansas City Chiefs, Naomi Osaka, the Miami Heat and Taylor Swift.
