Syracuse basketball prioritizing four-star Kamari Lands, who likes the zone

Syracuse basketball is one of three teams prioritizing 2022 four-star wing Kamari Lands.
The 2022 recruiting cycle is absolutely loaded, and one of the top players in the class, Kamari Lands, is getting prioritized by Syracuse basketball, along with former Big East Conference rivals Georgetown and Marquette, according to a 247Sports report.
The Hoyas? Really? All kidding aside, Lands is a talented wing with tremendous potential. He is a four-star prospect and top-60 player nationally in the 2022 class who is ranked as high as No. 22 overall in this cycle by ESPN.
We penned a recent column on Lands in which he had said in an interview with Zach Schumaker that while his recruitment remains quite open, the big-guard mentality within the Orange system is appealing to him.
Lands, a junior at Prolific Prep in Napa Valley, Calif., cited in that interview that he grew up a fan of Syracuse basketball and former Orange stars such as Michael Carter-Williams, a point guard with great length who helped guide the ‘Cuse to the 2013 Final Four.
Recruiting services indicate that Lands presently holds scholarship offers from Syracuse basketball, Georgetown, Marquette, Texas Tech, Xavier, DePaul and Miami (Ohio). He has also received interest from other high-majors such as Louisville, Indiana and Wisconsin.
Syracuse basketball seems in solid shape with 2022 four-star wing Kamari Lands.
The 6-foot-8 Lands has said that he wants to attend a college where he can play his game and serve as a lead guard, and that could possibly entail point guard or shooting guard. Some of the recruiting services, though, also list him as a small forward.
In the piece by 247Sports national analyst Dushawn London, he writes that although “there is no timetable for Lands to make a list or any decision, play style and player development will be the main components in any decisions in the future.”
Lands told London, “I like a fast paced system. It could be a slow paced school but I like up and down more. I also want to be able to be out on the perimeter playing the one and two showing that I can be a guard at the next level. I expect a staff to help me improve and get better in some type of aspect before I go to the NBA.”
"As far as his thoughts on the Orange, Lands said, “Our relationship is good. We talk sometimes, mostly after my games and tournaments. I like that they have that big guard mentality and the way they push the ball, but mostly that big guard mentality. They first saw me play when I was at La Lumiere playing against Isaiah Stewart and all of them. They say that they see that I have really big potential and that they like my size, driving abilities, and defensive abilities. As far as their defense, I like the zone. It’s definitely something I would do. I don’t see anything wrong with it and I can get a lot of steals and deflections out of it.”"
