Syracuse Football takes on NC State in the 2020 Carrier Dome finale Saturday afternoon. Here’s what you need to be able to watch and listen to the game.

The Syracuse Football season is almost over and it has been a painful one at that. Currently sitting at 1-8 overall and 1-7 in conference, it has been a nightmare to say the least.

To add insult to injury, Louisville trounced Syracuse 30-0 on the road last Friday in a game that never felt close and was talked up to possibly be one. The Orange instead fell flat, and they went into this week knowing they still have two games left against above .500 opponents in NC State and Notre Dame on the docket.

This week the Orange get the first of those two: NC State. NC State has not been great this year. In fact they have been rather average, but unfortunately in 2020 average is better than how most of the country’s teams are performing, including Syracuse.

According to ESPN.com, the matchup predictor gives NC State an 72.3% chance of winning, compared to SU’s 27.7%. They also see the Wolfpack winning by a scoring margin of 14.5 points. In other words, the odds do not look good, but slightly better than last week.

In regards to the game itself though, let’s look at how both teams stack up so far this season:

How do these teams match up?

Total yards per game: Syracuse 249.7 yards, NC State 389.0 yards

Points per game: Syracuse 16.2, NC State 31.4

Points Allowed per game: Syracuse 31.0, NC State 31.7

Yards Allowed per game: Syracuse 464.3 yards, NC State 392.1 yards

*all stats above via ESPN.com

Sad to say Orange fans, but these stats once again do not look favorable for Syracuse to pull out a victory at home. NC State has a clear edge in three of these four main categories. Just like Louisville last week. As you’ll remember that ended in a blowout win by the Cardinals.

The margin is practically tied in points allowed per game, but that still should not give Orange fans confidence in a victory as the Orange are only scoring 16.2 points per game on the season, which is not good. If these areas don’t improve on game day then the Orange could be in for another long day.
