Syracuse football 2022 QB target Henry Belin is in consistent contact with the Orange.
Recruiting analysts say that Syracuse football is in solid shape with 2022 high-priority quarterback target Henry Belin out of New York.
Belin, a junior at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, N.Y., is rated a three-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite, 247Sports and Rivals.com.
Under his bio on the 247Sports Web site, the only school listed as “warm” is the Orange. Adam Friedman, a recruiting analyst with Rivals.com, writes in a piece that “Syracuse and Rutgers are the teams to watch right now, but that could change when the dead period ends and he’s able to go out on some recruiting visits.”
Belin is listed as 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds on the 247Sports Web site. Rivals.com has Belin at 6-foot-3 and 208 pounds.
Per a review of various recruiting services and Belin’s own Twitter page, he holds scholarship offers from, besides the ‘Cuse and Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt, Buffalo, Old Dominion, Massachusetts, Columbia, Princeton and Dartmouth.
Syracuse football appears in a relatively strong position with 2022 quarterback Henry Belin.
"Friedman says that Belin is one of the top-five 2022 quarterbacks still available on the East Coast. In his evaluation of Belin, Friedman writes that he is a “scramble-to-throw type of quarterback that can get the ball down the field with accuracy. Last season he didn’t show off refined mechanics or footwork, and that’s something he’s worked hard to tighten up. Reading the secondary and getting the ball quickly to the right receiver is something he wanted to show off this season, but he’ll have to wait to do it on campus in front of college coaches.”"
The 247Sports Composite ranks Belin at No. 703 nationally in the 2022 cycle, as well as the No. 36 pro-style quarterback and the No. 6 prospect in New York state. Over at 247Sports, he is the No. 40 pro-style QB and the No. 7 high-school player in New York.
Mike McAllister, the publisher of SyracuseOnSI, said in a column that Belin recently had a Zoom call with Orange head coach Dino Babers. McAllister adds that Belin and ‘Cuse assistant coach Nick Monroe speak several times every week. “It is clear he is the top priority in the 2022 class.”
