Four-star Kamari Lands has a long way to go with his recruitment, but he likes Syracuse basketball.

Kamari Lands, a Syracuse basketball target and top-60 player nationally in the 2022 class, is just getting started with his recruiting process and expects a lot more scholarship offers in the future.

We agree with his assessment. The 6-foot-8 Lands has a tremendous amount of height for the position he plays, which is shooting guard, even though he’s listed by some recruiting services as a wing player who could theoretically slide into a small-forward role. Or maybe he even point guard.

Could you imagine a player of his skill-set and talent, who is 6-foot-8 and could reside at the top of the Orange’s vaunted 2-3 zone? Oh my!

Lands is a junior at Prolific Prep in Napa Valley, Calif., where he transferred to from the La Lumiere School in La Porte, Ind. Prolific Prep, by the way, is where ‘Cuse freshman center Frank Anselem suited up prior to joining the Orange.

According to the recruiting services, Lands holds offers from Syracuse basketball, Georgetown, Marquette, 2019 national runner-up Texas Tech, Xavier, DePaul and Miami (Ohio). He has also garnered interest from Louisville, Indiana and Wisconsin.

Syracuse basketball 2022 four-star target Kamari Lands has high praise for the Orange.

In an interview with Zach Schumaker, Lands says his recruitment is still quite open, with more offers expected to come in as he shines for Prolific Prep. He wants to attend a college where he can play his game and serve as a lead guard.

Lands says that he grew up a fan of the ‘Cuse, noting players such as Michael Carter-Williams, a tall point guard who helped guide the Orange to the 2013 Final Four, and Carmelo Anthony, who of course led Syracuse basketball to its only NCAA championship in 2003.

The ‘Cuse big-guard mentality is appealing to Lands, although he hasn’t come out with any kind of list, and it’s really difficult to get any sense of a favorite or favorites for him. That being said, Lands has said in some media articles that he hears from the Orange on a consistent basis.

With 2022 four-star shooting guard Roddy Gayle Jr. and 2022 five-star point guard Dior Johnson out of the picture, Lands, who is ranked as high as No. 22 nationally in this cycle by ESPN, could prove a strong fit for Syracuse basketball.
