Syracuse Football: Game time, TV, Radio and more vs. Louisville
By Josh Peelman
Syracuse Football takes on the Louisville Cardinals Friday night. Here’s the info you need to be able to watch and listen to the game.
Syracuse Football has really struggled toward the end of the wild and wacky 2020 season. Littered with injuries, dropouts, and inconsistency on both sides of the ball, Syracuse Football probably cannot wait for this season to end. The Orange have three more games left this season, starting this Friday night on the road versus Louisville.
The Orange at this point in the season is preparing for next year. They are already starting third-string quarterback JaCobian Morgan who showed a lot of promise on Nov. 7 in a close loss against Boston College. He has the intangibles to do well at Syracuse as the starting quarterback, but needs more reps to be more confident in the system and teammates he will be working with going forward. This primetime game against Louisville on Friday night on ESPN will give him just that.
Louisville is down again this year, there’s no questioning that. Like the Syracuse Football team, they have had issues of their own that ruined their ability to succeed this season. Sitting at 2-6 overall and 1-6 in conference like Syracuse, they are also using these next few games to get their young guys more reps and playing time in preparation for next year.
This game could go either way. The Cardinals are no slouch. Sure, they have lost a lot of games this season, but unlike the Orange they have actually been in those games, and more often than not felt like they at least had a chance to win. If they can just limit their mistakes and play well on offense they can roll Syracuse in primetime. The Orange, on the other hand, have to come into Cardinal Stadium wanting to win and play well on defense to slow down the Cardinals. If they can do that, they stand a much better chance of pulling a small upset on the road.

According to ESPN.com, the matchup predictor gives Louisville an 83.7% chance of winning, compared to SU’s 16.3%. They also see Louisville winning by a scoring margin of 18 points. So Orange fans, hold your breath once again because this could get ugly if the experts are right.
In regards to the game itself though, let’s look at both teams statistics for this season thus far for further clarity:
How do these teams match up?
Total yards per game: Syracuse 263.8 yards, Louisville 440.6 yards
Points per game: Syracuse 18.3, Louisville 27.9
Points Allowed per game: Syracuse 31.1, Louisville 29.8
Yards Allowed per game: Syracuse 464.3 yards, Louisville 392.1 yards
*all stats above via ESPN.com
These stats do not look favorable for the men in Orange and Blue. Sure, this game is considered a winnable game for Syracuse because of the team’s records, but based on stats alone, Louisville has a clear edge in these four main categories. The Cardinals have a huge lead in total yards per game and yards allowed per game. The margins are smaller in points per game and points allowed per game but still not on Syracuse Football’s side either. If these areas don’t improve on game day the Orange, as said before could be in for a long night.
