Syracuse basketball has missed out on top-60 Arthur Kaluma, a 2021 forward.
Syracuse basketball earlier this year had some buzz regarding 2021 four-star power forward Arthur Kaluma, according to recruiting analysts, but that buzz appeared to have faded of late.
The 6-foot-8 Kaluma, a senior at Dream City Christian School in Glendale, Ariz., revealed via Twitter on Thursday night that he is committing to UNLV.
The Rebels were the presumed front-runner for Kaluma recently, as a total of seven recruiting experts between the 247Sports Web site and Rivals.com had logged predictions for Kaluma to select UNLV.
Over the summer, Kaluma released a top eight of the ‘Cuse, Arizona State, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, USC and UNLV.

We penned a column a few days ago that discussed how Kaluma’s recruitment may have expanded, as he said in a recent Q&A interview with Pro Insight that Missouri had begun showing interest in him.
What’s more, while the Rebels continued to stay the favorite in the minds of recruiting analysts, Arizona State did reportedly seem to make a late charge. In the end, though, UNLV won out.
Arthur Kaluma, a 2021 four-star forward, chose UNLV over Syracuse basketball and others.
Within the 2021 cycle on a national scale, Kaluma is ranked No. 32 overall by 247Sports, No. 39 by the 247Sports Composite, No. 39 by ESPN.com and No. 59 by Rivals.com.
He is also the No. 8 power forward according to 247Sports and No. 11 at his position per the 247Sports Composite.
With the Orange at 13 scholarship players in the 2020-21 term, two seniors on the present roster and one 2021 commit to date, the ‘Cuse likely is in store for a relatively small 2021 class.
Small forward Benny Williams, a five-star prospect according to Rivals.com, signed his national letter of intent to suit up for Syracuse basketball earlier this week. He is a senior at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
Pretty much the only other target for the Orange in the 2021 cycle at this juncture is four-star center Micawber Etienne, a senior at the Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H. However, several other college teams are getting way more buzz for Etienne than Syracuse basketball currently is.
