It’s still not known whether fans will get to watch Syracuse basketball games in-person, while some other squads have revealed attendance plans.

The Syracuse basketball 2020-21 campaign will commence in a few weeks’ time, and there is no word for university officials about whether fans will get to watch home games inside the Carrier Dome.

Orange leaders will of course have to follow regulations from the state of New York, and to date no fans have been permitted at the Dome for Syracuse football contests in the fall term.

Amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, it won’t surprise me one iota if ‘Cuse fans won’t get allowed to cheer on Syracuse basketball at the Dome at any point in the 2020-21 stanza, but a lot of things can rapidly change, so who really knows at this juncture.

However, for some context, we’re passing along attendance details recently announced by a couple of other squads around the country, including two teams within the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Given that rules surrounding sporting events will vary from state to state during the pandemic, other teams allowing fans in the stands doesn’t at all foreshadow that a similar outcome will occur on the Hill.

At Clemson, an ACC unit, the athletics department says it has received the green light from the South Carolina Department of Commerce to have 1,860 fans at Littlejohn Coliseum for men’s and women’s basketball encounters.

Over at Louisville, another ACC team, officials say that approximately 3,000 fans per game will get admitted to the KFC Yum! Center for men’s and women’s basketball bouts.

Villanova, a former Big East Conference rival of Syracuse basketball, will hold four games at Finneran Pavilion during its early 2020-21 schedule, and capacity is limited to no more than 15 percent at this facility.

Finally, 2019 NCAA Tournament national finalist Texas Tech says in a press release that attendance will get reduced to roughly 25 percent for home duels at the United Supermarkets Arena during the upcoming season.

So, as it pertains to the Orange, what are your thoughts? Should university officials allow fans to watch home games live inside the Dome?
