Hopefully, Syracuse basketball 2022 commit Dior Johnson will shine at his new high school in California.

The new high-school landing spot for Syracuse basketball 2022 commit Dior Johnson, Corona Centennial High School in Corona, Calif., is a premier squad in the talent-rich state of California.

While Corona Centennial High School may not prove quite on the national level of Johnson’s former home, the powerhouse prep-school program at the Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va., I want to make something abundantly clear.

The 6-foot-3 Johnson, a five-star point guard who is rated No. 3 across the country according to 247Sports, is heading to a tremendous team.

During the most recent stanza, per this Los Angeles Times article, the Huskies wrapped things up at “27-5, won the Big VIII League title and was ranked No. 2 in the Southern Section Open Division at the end of the regular season.”

For these accomplishments, the head coach at Corona Centennial High School, Josh Giles, got named The Times’ boys’ basketball coach of the year.

By the way, Giles confirmed that Johnson has enrolled at Corona Centennial High School, according to a tweet on late Friday night from Connor Morrissette, an SB Live reporter who covers high-school sports in Los Angeles and nationwide.

Syracuse basketball 2022 five-star commit Dior Johnson has found a new home at Corona Centennial High School in Corona, Calif.

Per his bio on the Corona Centennial High School Web site, Giles has served as the head coach of the Huskies for 17 campaigns, and he owns a career mark of 398-132, including seven terms with 27 victories or more.

In addition to the Los Angeles Times’ honor from earlier this year, Giles also received the 2020 Scorebook Live Southern Section Coach of the Year award.

Johnson is joining Corona Centennial High School about a month after leaving the Oak Hill Academy. According to Mike Waters of Syracuse.com, who cited sources, Johnson “was unhappy at the [Oak Hill Academy] after being diagnosed with a stress reaction in his right foot. He had his foot placed in a boot and was expected to sit out three or four weeks.”

Johnson, who committed to the Orange this past February, had transferred to the Oak Hill Academy from Mayfair High School in Lakewood, Calif.

It’s no secret that Johnson has moved around a bit during his high-school tenure to date, but my fingers are crossed that he excels at Corona Centennial High School and then makes his way to the Hill in about two years’ time.
