A recruiting expert says that numerous teams are in the running for Syracuse basketball high-priority target Chance Westry.

Syracuse basketball has long pursued 2022 four-star guard Chance Westry, and for a while now the Orange has seemed to possess some buzz surrounding its chances to land the top-40 prospect in this cycle.

However, the 6-foot-5 Westry does boast a lot of impressive high-quality suitors, including fellow Atlantic Coast Conference members Louisville, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and Miami, along with Memphis, Auburn, Michigan, Georgetown, Florida, Maryland, Providence, St. John’s, DePaul, LSU, Nebraska, Penn State, VCU, Temple, Arkansas, Georgia and Southern California.

According to articles that I’ve read about Westry, he has a solid relationship with the ‘Cuse coaching staff. Syracuse basketball presently holds two predictions in its direction for Westry on the 247Sports Web site, although both of them came back in February.

Additionally, the Orange and Maryland are both listed as “warm” within his bio on 247sports.com. Those are all encouraging signs, but by no means does it signify that Westry will choose the ‘Cuse when all is said and done.

Westry did previously make a visit to the Hill, and Syracuse basketball offered a scholarship to him in July of 2019, one of the early high-major offers that the talented player received.

Syracuse basketball remains a possible future destination for 2022 four-star guard Chance Westry.

In a Q&A session, recruiting analyst and journalist Mike McAllister, the publisher of SyracuseOnSI, says that the Orange has a “realistic shot” of landing one or more top-flight 2022 prospects whom the team is pursuing, and he included Westry among these targets.

I asked recruiting expert Jake Weingarten, the founder of Stockrisers.com, about Westry in another recent Q&A. Here’s what Weingarten had to say. “Plenty of schools are in the mix here, wouldn’t say there’s a favorite or even favorites. He does also have Kentucky interest as well, we will see what happens with that.”

Whenever the Wildcats are involved, I don’t have a great feeling about the ‘Cuse outlook for a high-school player, however, at this juncture I don’t believe that Kentucky has offered Westry.

A junior, Westry over the summer elected to transfer from Trinity High School in Camp Hill, Pa., to the Sierra Canyon School in the Los Angeles suburb of Chatsworth, Calif.
