It’s looking less and less likely that 2021 four-star forward Arthur Kaluma will select Syracuse basketball.
The chances that 2021 four-star power forward Arthur Kaluma ends up choosing Syracuse basketball appear pretty somber at this juncture.
The 6-foot-8 Kaluma, a senior at Dream City Christian School in Glendale, Ariz., has the Orange in his top eight, along with Arizona State, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, USC and UNLV.
In recent days, at least four recruiting analysts and industry experts have logged predictions for Kaluma in the direction of UNLV, so it appears that the Rebels are in terrific shape with the top-60 player in the 2021 cycle.
I won’t count the ‘Cuse completely out until Kaluma reveals his collegiate destination, but things are not looking so good for the Orange.
This is a bummer, because Kaluma is an ultra-talented prospect, and earlier this year there proved a lot of chatter about him potentially heading to the ‘Cuse.
Arthur Kaluma, a 2021 four-star forward and high-priority target for Syracuse basketball, is receiving a lot of UNLV buzz.
Corey Evans in late August put in a projection for Kaluma to UNLV on Rivals.com. Evans had served as a national analyst for that recruiting service before recently joining the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder as a scout.
On the 247Sports Web site, three experts are forecasting Kaluma to UNLV. They are 247Sports national basketball director Eric Bossi, 247Sports national analyst Travis Branham and InsideTheRebels.com beat writer Jeffrey Waddilove.
These predictions on the 247Sports Web site, for what it’s worth, range in confidence from “medium” to “high.”
"Here’s what Bossi had to say about Kaluma in a recent column. “Ranked No. 32 by 247Sports and No. 40 in the Composite, Kaluma has a final eight of Arizona State, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Syracuse, Texas A&M, USC and UNLV. Things are looking pretty good for UNLV, though, and I’ve entered in my CB pick for TJ Otzelberger and the Rebels. Kaluma is a playmaking four man and would go quite nicely with four-star point guard Zaon Collins and three-star combo guard Keshon Gilbert a pair of Vegas locals who have already committed.”"
We’ll continue to keep tabs on Kaluma, but it won’t come as a surprise if Syracuse basketball doesn’t hear its name called when he unveils his college selection.
