Caleb Middleton is only a freshman in high school, but he’s already landing offers and interest from high-major teams, including Syracuse basketball.
Syracuse basketball is displaying interest in Caleb Middleton, a power forward in the 2024 class who is regarded as one of the top prospects in New England within this recruiting cycle, according to a report.
The 6-foot-10 Middleton, a freshman at the New Hampton School in New Hampton, N.H., recently spoke with Rivals.com national analyst Rob Cassidy about his recruitment, and Middleton notes the Orange in this interview.
To date, despite his recruiting process at the beginning stages, Middleton has scholarship offers from Big East Conference member DePaul, as well as from Bryant and Siena.
Additionally, other squads that are showing interest in Middleton include Syracuse basketball, Penn State, Connecticut, Indiana, Georgia, Seton Hall, Marquette, Boston College and Oregon. That’s a pretty impressive list for him.
Middleton told Cassidy that he’s hoping for offers from UConn and Indiana in the near future. “They are showing some really strong interest,” Middleton says.
Since his father attended Penn State, Middleton adds that he grew up a fan of that team, particularly in football. Middleton says, “I’ve always loved Penn State. I’m really hoping to get an from them, too.”
Syracuse basketball has an interest in 2024 power forward Caleb Middleton, a promising freshman who plays in New Hampshire.
Obviously, Middleton’s recruitment has a long way to go, however, it’s encouraging that the ‘Cuse is developing a relationship with him early on. Hopefully, the Orange will ultimately offer Middleton.
Recruiting services are just starting to come out with national rankings for the 2023 cycle, so it will prove a while before 2024 players are rated. However, it won’t surprise me at all if Middleton checks in as a top-50 to top-100 prospect across the country in the 2024 class.
The New Hampton School, by the way, is also where former Syracuse basketball star Tyler Lydon went prior to joining the ‘Cuse program.
Lydon, a 6-foot-10 power forward, would prove a key member of the Orange group that went on a magical journey to the Final Four in 2016. He would end up as a first-round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
Switching back to Middleton, Rivals.com’s Cassidy writes that “his 6-foot-10 frame and raw athleticism give him a chance to earn a number of high major opportunities.” We’ll keep an eye out to see if Syracuse basketball is eventually one of them.
