Syracuse basketball has reached out to 2022 point guard Rowan Brumbaugh, who hails from D.C. and plays at a Massachusetts prep school.

Syracuse basketball may already have a commitment from 2022 five-star point guard Dior Johnson, but the Orange continues to look at other point guards in this recruiting cycle as well, with one of the latest being Rowan Brumbaugh.

The 6-foot-3 Brumbaugh, an under-the-radar point guard in the 2022 class on a national scale, recently got contacted by the ‘Cuse, per a tweet from Tre Jackson of Knowledge Hoops.

According to his bio on the Verbal Commits’ Web site, Brumbaugh is a junior at the Northfield Mount Hermon School, a prep school located in Mount Hermon, Mass. His hometown is in Washington, D.C.

Jackson’s tweet says that, in addition to Syracuse basketball, other squads to recently reach out to Brumbaugh include fellow Atlantic Coast Conference crews Virginia and Wake Forest, along with the SEC’s Vanderbilt.

Although not ranked nationally by primary recruiting services, at least as far as I can tell, don’t let that fool you. Brumbaugh is a stellar high-school prospect, according to several recruiting analysts.

Syracuse basketball is in touch with 2022 point guard Rowan Brumbaugh, who suits up for an elite prep-school program in Massachusetts.

His Verbal Commits’ bio says that, at this juncture, Brumbaugh holds scholarship offers from Georgetown, Richmond, Boston University, Brown, Southern Utah, Bryant and Fairfield. Hopefully, the Orange will offer him soon.

The New England Recruiting Report has him rated No. 21 within the New England market for the 2022 cycle, as well as No. 13 in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Colby Giacubeno, a scout and recruiting analyst for Prep Hoops, said of Brumbaugh in a recent tweet, “The 6’3 floor general has advanced basketball IQ, ability to score when called upon and plays with a competitive edge. Most of all, one of the more coachable kids you’ll come across.”

Separately, Trent Markwith, the owner of Relentless Hoops, said in part of Brumbaugh in a tweet, “A savvy, strong-bodied PG at 6’3”, Brumbaugh has ideal qualities for the next level. Uses both hands, changes speeds, and has good feel.”
