Syracuse basketball 2022 five-star target Jarace Walker hopes to visit the Orange when it’s possible, according to 2021 commit Benny Williams.

Syracuse basketball 2021 five-star commit Benny Williams and 2022 five-star target Jarace Walker both attend the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., and Orange fans are hopeful that this pair of absolute stars will take their talents to the Hill.

Williams, a 6-foot-8 small forward and senior at the IMG Academy, certainly would like to see the 6-foot-6 Walker, a junior small forward at the prep-school powerhouse, commit to the ‘Cuse as well.

Now, Walker’s recruiting process is still relatively early on, and he already holds a ton of impressive high-major offers. No recruiting analysts have logged a prediction for Walker’s potential collegiate destination to date, although his bio on the 247Sports Web site lists Auburn, Maryland and Michigan as “warm.”

There’s also a chance that Walker could head straight from high school to the pro ranks, something that is feasible for Syracuse basketball 2022 commit Dior Johnson, a five-star point guard.

In any event, Williams said in a recent interview with Zach Schumaker that Walker has told him he definitely wants to visit the Orange campus when it’s realistic amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. In fact, Williams says that he will try to bring Walker with him to Central New York when he makes his own trip to the Hill.

That Williams is hoping to steer Walker to ultimately select the ‘Cuse is something that delights Syracuse basketball fans, myself included. Of course, this in no way guarantees that Walker will pick the Orange, but the relationship between these two IMG Academy players is encouraging and a positive development.

Williams noted in his virtual chat with Schumaker that he’s seeking to land one or two more commitments for the ‘Cuse in the team’s 2021 recruiting cycle.

Given that the Orange has 13 scholarship guys on the present roster, including two seniors, and Williams has already pledged to Syracuse basketball, it’s likely that the ‘Cuse will have a relatively small 2021 class.

As we’ve discussed, with Johnson on board, if a few other top-flight talents, such as Walker, arrive with Johnson in Central New York as members of the Orange’s 2022 cycle, look out for this class.
