Syracuse football is now one of roughly 30 high-major squads that are vying for elite 2023 safety Rahmir Stewart.

Over the years, Syracuse football has produced some stellar players in its secondary, and the Orange is hoping to add to that track-record of success with 2023 safety Rahmir Stewart.

The ‘Cuse recently offered a scholarship to the 6-foot, 195-pound Stewart, he disclosed on his Twitter page. Stewart is a sophomore at the Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia.

Many of the main recruiting services have yet to release their inaugural national ratings for the 2023 recruiting cycle. However, 247Sports does slot the four-star Stewart as the No. 11 overall player in this class, the No. 1 safety and the No. 1 prospect in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

At this juncture, Stewart possesses close to 30 scholarship offers from a bevy of top-notch football programs across the country, according to a review of the primary recruiting Web sites.

Syracuse football is entering the mix for 2023 No. 1 safety Rahmir Stewart out of Philadelphia.

Let’s get real. The chances that the Orange will ultimately land Stewart are slim to none, given his present offer sheet that will only continue to grow. Then again, the recruiting world is always chock full of surprises, so we’ll have to see how things pan out with Stewart.

In mid-August, 247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn provided an evaluation of Stewart. Here’s what Dohn had to say about the new Syracuse football target in the 2023 class.

"“Safety frame with free safety range and strong safety mindset. Can easily play at 205 pounds. Aggressive, physical player who loves to hit. Excellent body control and strong tackler. Drives on the ball well. Is comfortable in the box. Is low, comfortable in backpedal. Excellent ball skills. Can flip his hips and change direction. Diagnosis running plays well. Productive for one of Pennsylvania’s best teams as a freshman with 31 tackles, three interceptions. Starter at elite level Power 5 program.”"
