Syracuse basketball recently inquired about 2023 point guard Rodney Gallagher, who also stars in football for his high school.

Syracuse basketball remains extremely busy on the recruiting front in the 2023 class, doling out offers and showing interest in a bevy of high-quality prospects, including point guard and two-sport star Rodney Gallagher out of Pennsylvania.

The Orange has recently touched base with AAU squad Wildcat Select to inquire about the 6-foot-1 Gallagher, according to a tweet from Tre Jackson of Knowledge Hoops. Gallagher competes for Wildcat Select and is also a sophomore at Laurel Highlands High School in Uniontown, Pa.

Jackson’s tweet says that, in addition to Syracuse basketball, other teams inquiring about Gallagher and showing interest in him include Mike Hopkins-led Washington, Atlantic Coast Conference squads Virginia, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Miami and N.C. State, as well as Connecticut, Villanova, Penn State, Temple, West Virginia, Xavier, Ohio State, Arizona, Oregon, Texas A&M, Dayton, Iowa, Georgia, Indiana and Auburn.

All I can say is – wow. That’s a ton of top-flight competition, should the ‘Cuse ultimately offer a scholarship to Gallagher, and I sincerely hope that Orange coaches do.

A review of various recruiting services, as well as the Twitter accounts for Gallagher and Wildcat Select, indicates that he presently holds offers from the ACC’s Wake Forest and Pittsburgh, along with Penn State, Illinois, Rhode Island and Hampton.

Syracuse basketball is reportedly making contact about 2023 point guard Rodney Gallagher.

Gallagher, also a four-star prospect in football per 247Sports, isn’t ranked by some of the main recruiting Web sites in basketball for now, but I absolutely expect that to change as his recruitment heats up. Prep Hoops, though, does place him at No. 25 across the country in the 2023 cycle for basketball.

"In an evaluation by 247Sports national analyst Brian Dohn on Gallagher in mid-August, Dohn had this to say, in part, about the two-sport player. “It remains to be seen if Rodney Gallagher plays football, basketball or both sports in college, but he certainly has some nice options. … He is an elite level athlete and two-sport star. He has length and the frame to fill out to 195 pounds. He was first-team all-state in basketball as a freshman and versatile athlete in football. He can play safety, linebacker or receiver depending on his physical growth. …”"

dark. Next. Syracuse basketball isn’t a top-10 coaching job, but Indiana, Louisville are?
