Syracuse Basketball: 2022 3-star target Riley Mulvey picks up Big Ten offer

Syracuse basketball 2022 target Riley Mulvey is seeing his recruitment advance to a bigger stage.

Syracuse basketball target Riley Mulvey, a three-star center in the 2022 class, is now up to eight scholarship offers after he received one from Penn State not too long ago, according to his Twitter page.

The Orange offered a scholarship to the 6-foot-11 Mulvey back in August. Per a review of the main recruiting services, he currently holds offers from Albany, Bryant, Iowa, Massachusetts, Penn State, Siena, Syracuse basketball and Yale.

He is also receiving interest from Rutgers, according to his bio on the 247Sports Web site. Mulvey presently has one crystal-ball prediction in the direction of Iowa, although that came in late May.

Additionally, a Syracuse.com article from August noted at the time that other high-major teams had reached out to Mulvey, including Maryland, Notre Dame, Providence, Michigan, Wake Forest and Stanford.

Mulvey, a native of Rotterdam, N.Y., is a junior at the St. Thomas More School, a prep school in Oakdale, Conn. He transferred there from the Albany Academy in Albany, N.Y.

A lot of the primary recruiting Web sites don’t have Mulvey in their national ratings for the 2022 cycle, but I expect that to change. He is placed at No. 185 across the country in the 2022 class by both Prep Hoops and the 247Sports Composite.

At the center position in this cycle, the 247Sports Composite puts Mulvey at No. 22, while 247Sports itself has him at No. 33.

As it pertains to 2022 prospects in the state of New York, Mulvey is No. 2 according to the 247Sports Composite, and he is No. 3 via 247Sports.

Per a 247Sports story published in August after the ‘Cuse offered him, during his last season at the Albany Academy, Mulvey averaged an impressive 12 points, 12.4 rebounds and six blocks a game.

"“It was coach Autry and coach McNamara who were on a call with me and offered,” Mulvey told 247Sports. “They were talking about how I’d be an incredible fit for Syracuse and how I would have the ball run through me in the offense.”"

Mulvey added, “I think that they’re in my top five colleges and I definitely could end up going.”
