Syracuse basketball has interest in Jacoi Hutchinson, a 2023 four-star player out of legendary DeMatha Catholic.

Historically, Syracuse basketball has fared well on the recruiting front in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., metropolitan areas, and, to that end, the Orange is showing interest in 2023 four-star Jacoi Hutchinson, who suits up for a powerhouse program in Maryland.

According to Hutchinson’s bio on the 247Sports Web site, the 6-foot-2 shooting guard has yet to receive a scholarship offer, however, he is getting interest from a quartet of big-time college teams.

They are former Big East Conference nemesis Georgetown, Big Ten Conference member Maryland, Syracuse basketball and fellow Atlantic Coast Conference participant Virginia, which captured the 2019 NCAA championship.

Hopefully, the ‘Cuse will offer a scholarship soon to Hutchinson, who is a sophomore at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md. Over the years, the basketball squad at DeMatha Catholic has proven one of the top crews across the entire country.

According to that high school’s Web site, DeMatha Catholic earlier this year landed the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title, its 41st conference crown and the 19th occasion where the group finished a campaign with 30 or more conquests.

Syracuse basketball is displaying interest in 2023 four-star Jacoi Hutchinson, one of the premier prospects in Maryland.

Recruiting service 247Sports recently published its inaugural national rankings for the 2023 cycle, and Hutchinson has arrived at No. 20 overall. Also within his class, Hutchinson is the No. 3 shooting guard, as well as the No. 2 high-school player in the state of Maryland.

Based on these ratings, it’s no wonder that the Orange is taking a good look at Hutchinson.

During the 2019-20 stanza at DeMatha Catholic, Hutchinson played with 2020 four-star center Hunter Dickinson, who held a scholarship offer from Syracuse basketball but ultimately elected to commit to Michigan out of the Big Ten.

Speaking of the D.C. market, 2021 small forward Benny Williams committed to the ‘Cuse in early June. Williams, recently upgraded to a five-star prospect by Rivals.com, had competed for St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Md., before transferring to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., for his senior term.

We’ll of course keep you updated on Hutchinson’s recruiting involvement with Syracuse basketball.
