Syracuse lacrosse adds 2022 defenders; SU in top four for No. 2 prospect

Syracuse lacrosse continues to remain busy picking up stellar players for its 2022 recruiting cycle.
Syracuse lacrosse recently landed the No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class, Joey Spallina, but the Orange is far from done in this cycle.
The ‘Cuse has secured additional pledges from a pair of 2022 four-star defenders of late, according to Inside Lacrosse. They are George Wandoff out of Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Fla., as well as Chuck Kuczynski from Allentown Central Catholic High School in Allentown, Pa.
The Orange now has 10 prospects in its 2022 class, all obtained by the squad since the beginning of September, per Inside Lacrosse’s recruiting database.
Leading the way is five-star attackman Joey Spallina, a junior at Mount Sinai High School in Mount Sinai, N.Y., who is the No. 1 recruit across the country in the 2022 cycle, according to Inside Lacrosse.
Other recent commits for Syracuse lacrosse in this class are five-star midfielder Carter Kempney, four-star goalie Jimmy McCool, four-star attackman Michael Leo, defensive midfielder Vinnie Trujillo and midfielder Zach Mercado.
Syracuse lacrosse is one of four finalists for the No. 2 national prospect in the 2022 class.
Getting Spallina proved a huge recruiting win for the Orange, but the ‘Cuse is also on the shortlist for the No. 2 player in the 2022 cycle.
Ty Xanders, director of recruiting for Inside Lacrosse, published a recent piece where he disclosed that five-star attackman/midfielder Dom Pietramala has trimmed his contenders to Denver, North Carolina, Penn State and Syracuse.
Pietramala, a junior at The Boys’ Latin School in Baltimore, is the No. 2 prospect in the 2022 class, according to ratings from Inside Lacrosse.
In class of 2021 news, Casey Mulligan de-committed from Syracuse lacrosse on Sept. 19 and committed to Penn a day later, per his bio on the Inside Lacrosse Web site. Mulligan, a four-star midfielder, is a senior at Manasquan High School in Manasquan, N.J.
Finally, after finishing up the abbreviated 2020 term as the No. 1 crew in the country, a campaign that got halted early due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Syracuse lacrosse checks in at No. 2 in the early 2021 rankings from U.S. Lacrosse Magazine.
The only team ahead of the Orange in these pre-season ratings is Duke.
