Syracuse football juniors Trill Williams and Andre Cisco are each receiving a bunch of 2021 NFL Draft buzz, and deservingly so.

The Syracuse football sensational duo of juniors Trill Williams and Andre Cisco is garnering considerable 2021 NFL Draft chatter, regardless of the fact that the Orange lost big at then-No. 18 North Carolina last weekend in the ‘Cuse 2020 season opener.

As Syracuse football battled No. 25 Pittsburgh on the road this Saturday, a contest that began at noon from Heinz Field with the Orange as a substantial underdog to the Panthers, Williams and Cisco are eyeing possible 2021 NFL Draft selections.

Cisco, a pre-season All-American candidate in 2020, is serving as the ‘Cuse secondary’s rover, while Williams has moved over to free safety, per the squad’s initial depth chart of the fall campaign.

Versus the Tar Heels, their tremendous quarterback, sophomore Sam Howell, and several really good wide receivers, Cisco collected an interception, his 13th career pick, along with three tackles. Williams also chipped in three tackles.

Even after Syracuse football fell to UNC, 31-6, Yahoo Sports’ Eric Edholm included Cisco and Williams among his 2021 NFL Draft prospect “winners” for their performances against the Tar Heels, noting that, “This is a clear case of needing to scout the tape, not the box score.”

Edholm said of Cisco, “There are few better ballhawks in college football this season …” Edholm’s comments on Williams include that the Syracuse football player came into the 2020 term “a bit underrated under Cisco’s shadow, but he’s an NFL talent for sure also. He was expected to play more deep safety this season, but Williams ended up a lot in the slot and as a box defender in this one, displaying good coverage (zero receptions allowed) against UNC.”

Edholm did note that Williams had three missed tackles in the North Carolina affair, something that we all hope isn’t a recurring trend. Both Cisco and Williams could amount to top-75 picks in the next NFL Draft, “and Cisco could work his way into the top-50 discussion if he keeps getting his hands on passes.”

Of course, as you’re reading this column, my fingers are crossed that Cisco and Williams are boosting their 2021 NFL Draft stocks even more with stellar performances versus Pitt on Saturday afternoon.

Next. Looks like Syracuse football may not be in running still for George Rooks III. dark
