Okay, I’ll admit I was too hopeful last week that Syracuse Football had turned things around in the offseason and would come out slinging the ball well and had corrected some of the issues on the offensive line.

I was wrong, dead wrong. Not only did they not do that, but the Orange could also barely move the ball on offense, which in turn ended up tiring a really tremendous defense by the time the fourth quarter came around.

Things don’t look much better going into a matchup with rival Pittsburgh, on the road no less, who had a tremendous defensive showing last week and just blanked Austin Peay 55-0 in their first game of the season.

Sure, there will be no fans in Pittsburgh, but still, it’s a road game in which the Panthers will want to defend their home turf. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m not going to be optimistic this week. I see another Orange offense struggling to move the ball. I think at some point they’ll figure things out, but Pitt is not the defense that will help them do that.

I see the Orange getting destroyed 42-10 if not worse. It would not surprise me at all if the one touchdown Syracuse has this week is a defensive score. That’s how bad things have gotten. Sure, I’ll be watching, hoping, praying things don’t turn out like this, but I wouldn’t bet on it. Expect to turn off your TV sets by halftime if you don’t want to see suffering.

If you’re loyal like me, stick around to the end and maybe we’ll see a glimmer of hope heading into the Dome Re-Opening against Georgia Tech next week.
