Rivals.com has updated its list of the top-150 prospects in the 2022 class, and Syracuse basketball commit Dior Johnson is right near the top.
Syracuse basketball 2022 commit Dior Johnson recently got slotted at No. 3 across the country in the latest national ratings from 247Sports, and now he is checking in at No. 4 overall within the new Rivals.com rankings for this recruiting cycle.
The 6-foot-3 Johnson, a five-star point guard in the 2022 class, is a junior at the Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va. His prep team is poised for a stellar upcoming campaign and absolutely should compete for a high-school national championship.
Media reports have said that Johnson is considering a potential reclassification to the 2021 recruiting cycle, although he is focused on his junior stanza at the Oak Hill Academy and will let us all know about a possible reclassify when the time is right.
At this juncture, Rivals.com hasn’t released its positional ratings for the 2022 class, but when it does, I have every confidence that Johnson will arrive as the No. 1 or, at the very “worst,” the No. 2 point guard in all of high-school basketball in this recruiting cycle.
Dior Johnson, a Syracuse basketball commit, is unequivocally one of the premier high-school players in the 2022 class.
Over at 247Sports, besides his No. 3 overall ranking in the class of 2022, Johnson is listed as the No. 1 combo guard and the No. 1 prospect in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The 247Sports Composite places Johnson as the No. 5 player nationally, the No. 2 combo guard and the No. 1 prospect in Virginia.
At ESPN.com, meanwhile, Johnson is No. 11 overall, No. 2 at the point-guard position and No. 2 in his state, although it’s not clear to me if ESPN.com is rating him in Virginia or perhaps in California. Most recently, before transferring to the Oak Hill Academy, Johnson attended Mayfair High School in Lakewood, Calif.
If and when ESPN.com updates its national rankings for the 2022 class, it would absolutely stun me if Johnson doesn’t enter the top five in this cycle, or at a minimum the top 10.
It’s not that No. 11 overall is shabby by any stretch of the imagination, but Johnson really is a top-five prospect in the class of 2022, without question.
