Syracuse basketball 2021 commit Benny Williams enjoyed a small bump in his 247Sports national rating.

Recruiting service 247Sports has released its updated rankings of the top-150 players across the country in the 2021 recruiting cycle, and Syracuse basketball commit Benny Williams is now at No. 36, an increase of three spots over his prior placement.

Williams, a four-star small forward, is transferring from St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Md., to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., for his senior term.

Analysts at Rivals.com recently said that Williams could emerge as a five-star prospect according to that recruiting Web site, and he may even possibly push for the top 10 in the 2021 class on Rivals.com when all is said and done.

With 13 scholarship players on the current Orange roster, two guys set to exhaust their eligibility after the 2020-21 stanza, and Williams coming in, assuming no other line-up changes, the ‘Cuse would have one additional scholarship available in the 2021 recruiting cycle at this juncture.

Syracuse basketball 2021 commit Benny Williams rose a tad in the new 247Sports national ratings, and let’s review other ‘Cuse targets.

From my perspective, given some recent activity among a few Syracuse basketball 2021 targets who won’t ultimately arrive on the Hill in about a year’s time, perhaps the top-two prospects whom the Orange remains focused on in this cycle are four-star center Micawber Etienne and four-star power forward Arthur Kaluma.

Etienne, out of the Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H., has a recruitment that is tough to read. In the new 247Sports rankings, Etienne has moved up 12 spots to No. 41 overall.

As we recently reported, things aren’t looking so good these days for Syracuse basketball as it pertains to Kaluma, who attends the Dream City Christian School in Glendale, Ariz. In the latest 247Sports ratings, Kaluma has fallen a dozen placements, to No. 32 nationally.

Per this article, to date, the Big East Conference has the highest number of commitments within 247Sports’ top-150 players, at 17, followed by the Big Ten Conference with 16 and the Atlantic Coast Conference with 14, including Williams of course.
