Syracuse football has a rough road slate, and it entails the Orange traveling more than 3,100 miles in the 2020 campaign.

The Syracuse football 2020 schedule, as released by the Atlantic Coast Conference a few days ago, did the Orange no favors. The ‘Cuse has to make trips to five ACC foes, four of which are expected to arrive in the top six of the league standings when all is said and done.

An interesting piece by 247Sports national news writer Dean Straka, citing FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman, takes a look at how many miles each of the ACC’s 15 members, including Notre Dame for the upcoming term, have to endure as part of the league’s newly unveiled docket.

Syracuse football, as it turns out, is right smack in the middle, checking in at No. 8 overall throughout the ACC, with the Orange having to travel 3,152 miles over its five-affair road calendar.

As the conference has presently proposed, Syracuse football will pay visits to ACC title-favorite Clemson, along with Notre Dame, North Carolina, Louisville and Pittsburgh.

"Here’s the write-up on the Orange in the 247Sports article. “Syracuse kept most of its existing schedule intact with Boston College, Louisville, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, NC State, and Pitt. It does lose Florida State, but adds Duke, Notre Dame, and North Carolina. As if the games against the Irish and Tar Heels weren’t tough enough on paper for the Orange, both will come on the road. Factor in that Syracuse’s matchup with Clemson is also a road contest, and Dino Babers and Co. have their work cut out for them when playing away from the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome.”"

Syracuse football is the middle of the ACC’s pack as it pertains to miles the Orange will have to travel for its 2020 road bouts.

The 3,152 miles for the ‘Cuse might seem like a lot, although it’s not much of a surprise to me, given that the Atlantic Coast Conference stretches from Central New York to the southern portion of the Sunshine State.

Miami has to travel the most miles, at 4,239, followed by Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Notre Dame, Boston College, Duke, Syracuse, Louisville, Virginia, North Carolina, Clemson, N.C. State, Wake Forest, and Virginia Tech.

The ACC will only have one division for its 2020 stanza, with each member school suiting up for 10 league battles and one non-conference duel.

The Orange will host Boston College, Duke, N.C. State, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech. The first non-conference option for Syracuse football is Liberty.
