Penn State appeared the front-runner for Syracuse football 2022 QB target Beau Pribula, and the three-star prospect did select the Nittany Lions.

Syracuse football will have to move on to its recruitment of other 2022 quarterback prospects after three-star, dual-threat QB Beau Pribula opted for Big Ten Conference member Penn State.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Pribula, a rising junior at Central York High School in York, Pa., chose the Nittany Lions over the Orange and a host of other contenders, such as Connecticut, Nebraska, Northwestern, Old Dominion, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, Temple, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Buffalo.

Heading into his announcement reveal on Monday afternoon, a bunch of recruiting experts on the 247Sports Web site and Rivals.com had forecast that Pribula would ultimately make Penn State his collegiate destination. These analysts and publishers proved correct in their prognostications.

While it always stings when a talented high-school player whom the ‘Cuse has offered a scholarship to decides to go to another school, this recruiting outcome for Pribula is not much of a surprise at all.

Pribula, offered by Syracuse football in mid-April, is not currently rated by the 247Sports Composite or Rivals.com. However, he is ranked as three stars by 247Sports, which also slots Pribula as the No. 10 dual-threat quarterback nationally in the 2022 class, as well as the No. 11 player in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania within that recruiting cycle.

With Pribula electing for the Nittany Lions, the Orange coaching staff will turn its attention elsewhere as it pertains to 2022 quarterback prospects.

Among those additional targets for the ‘Cuse are four-star Peter Delaportas and three-star Henry Belin. Delaportas is a top-10 pro-style quarterback who attends Pope John XXIII Regional High School in Sparta, N.J., while Belin is a top-40 pro-style quarterback who is out of Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, N.Y.

We recently published a piece describing a strong interest level between Syracuse football and Belin, who has said that the ‘Cuse is among his top suitors.
