With Cameron Jordan moving on from Syracuse football, the Orange has lost its second wide receiver over the past month.

Cameron Jordan, a talented wide receiver who may have contended for a starting role with Syracuse football in the 2020 campaign, is no longer with the team, according to media reports.

CuseNation.com’s Mike McAllister first reported the news on Jordan. While Syracuse football confirmed to McAllister and other media outlets that Jordan has exited the program, the team didn’t offer any details about his decision to move on.

In the 2019 stanza, Jordan caught three passes for 20 yards, per his bio on ESPN.com. Nate Mink of Syracuse.com had this to say in a piece about Jordan. “The fourth-year junior played in 24 games over the last two seasons after taking a redshirt year in 2017. The Wheatley Heights, New York, native leaves Syracuse with three career receptions for 20 yards but had been expected to compete for a starting role this fall.”

Rated a three-star prospect in the 2017 recruiting cycle, Jordan attended Half Hollow Hills High School West in Huntington Station, N.Y. The 247Sports Composite slotted him as the No. 1,536 player nationally in his class, as well as the No. 219 wide receiver and the No. 13 guy in the state of New York.

Meanwhile, 247Sports ranked Jordan as the No. 135 wide receiver and the No. 8 player in New York. McAllister notes that Jordan’s other scholarship offers included from Atlantic Coast Conference squads Boston College and Wake Forest, along with Connecticut and Temple.

"Also per McAllister, “Jordan was viewed by many as a potential replacement for Trishton Jackson, who was Syracuse’s most productive wide receiver in 2019 and elected to head to the NFL. Jackson was signed by the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent.”"

About a month ago, word came across that Orange wide receiver Kevin Mital, a redshirt freshman, had left Central New York to suit up for Laval University in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.

It certainly stings a bit that both Mital and Jordan have elected to depart Syracuse football, although the ‘Cuse does return numerous wide receivers from the 2019 roster. Additionally, the Orange welcomes in several freshmen at the position.
