The Syracuse Orange athletics department has established a network where current and former ‘Cuse student-athletes can connect with one other.

The Syracuse Orange athletics department has announced the launch of a digital platform that will better enable current and former ‘Cuse student-athletes to remain connected to each other.

According to a press release, the athletics department has created this platform, dubbed the Syracuse University Athlete Network, in partnership with the Athlete Network, a company that is based in Lenexa, Kan.

The athletics department says that this new digital network is “part of the commitment to all ‘Cuse student-athletes to take another step toward strengthening the life-long connection.”

With the Syracuse University Athlete Network, present and former Orange student-athletes can stay connected to one another, while also accessing resources and programs from the SU athletics department, such as “content from current teams, coaches and staff members.”

"The press statement adds, “The network will serve as a nexus for life skills, career development and mentorship services, as well as a space for sharing resources and engaging in dialogue around pressing issues, including racial justice.”"

Besides the ability to stay connected through a private network, there is a job-search function, custom content about various sports and university news, and details on upcoming games, events and reunions.

Following the network’s initial launch, Syracuse Orange athletics-department officials will ask members of the network to provide feedback.

"“The Athlete Network is exciting because we can finally connect with each other virtually as Syracuse University alumni,” former Syracuse football player Cam Lynch said in the cuse.com announcement. “This platform is creating a bridge between the older and younger generations of Syracuse University student-athletes.”"

As it pertains to societal issues like racial justice, Orange athletics director John Wildhack earlier this month named Salatha Willis the associate athletic director of diversity, culture and climate, a new position at the university.

Willis is also one of 15 campus representatives serving on the Atlantic Coast Conference’s newly formed committee for racial and social justice.
