The Basketball Tournament has reached the quarterfinals. Syracuse basketball alumni team, Boeheim’s Army, looks to continue its run against Sideline Cancer.

After defeating Men of Mackey in the round of 16, Boeheim’s Army looks to continue its run to a TBT title. The Syracuse basketball composed squad will take on Sideline Cancer at 4 p.m. (ET) in what looks to be a very intriguing game in all aspects.

Previous Games

Boeheim’s Army has only played one game so far in TBT 2020, with it being a 76-69 win over Men of Mackey, a Purdue alumni team. Eric Devendorf paced the former Orange players to the win, while Donte Greene provided much-needed help down low.

For Sideline Cancer, it’s been a wild ride. They took down Team Hines, 93-91, in the first round of the tournament. Central Michigan product Marcus Keene led them with 29 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists, one of the best stat lines of TBT so far.

In the round of 16, Sideline Cancer took down the 6-seed Challenge ALS, 76-66. Keene again played a big role, but Eric Thompson’s double-double was key in controlling the boards.

Players to Watch

I’d be remiss to not say Eric Devendorf’s name here. The undisputed captain of Boeheim’s Army, Devendorf’s game does the talking (and his mouth sometimes). He’s a scoring guard who can hit from virtually anywhere on the floor.

Malachi Richardson is another guy to keep an eye on for Boeheim’s Army. The hero of ‘Cuse’s 2016 Elite Eight win against Virginia, Richardson has NBA experience with the reigning champs and is one of the stronger guards in TBT. He played decent in game one, but expect him to burst onto the scene a bit more. After all, quarterfinals are where he shines.

For Sideline Cancer, Marcus Keene will get his points. But Boeheim’s Army needs to key in on Eric Thompson and Jamal Artis. Syracuse basketball has been known for having very tall teams, but this one is an exception. After Chris McCullough and Tyler Lydon dropped out, it left them with Donte Greene and Colgate product Will Rayman as the main two big men. Boxing out Thompson and Artis will be key.

Prediction

Boeheim’s Army – 81, Sideline Cancer – 74

This one is going to be a bit more of a scoring fest than last time out. Sideline Cancer can put the ball in the basket as good as any team in this tournament, so Boeheim’s Army will need to answer. However, with Devendorf, Richardson, and Andrew White III, there are so many sparkplugs that can get really hot on a moment’s notice. Boeheim’s Army moves on to the semifinals.
