Syracuse Football: Andre Cisco on Sporting News All-American first team

Rack up another pre-season All-American first team accolade for Syracuse football safety Andre Cisco.
Syracuse football star safety Andre Cisco has received his third pre-season All-American first squad honor, this time around from Sporting News.
Cisco, the 6-foot, 206-pound junior, is also on the pre-season All-American first teams from Lindy’s and Street & Smith’s.
Sporting News, one of five outlets used to acknowledge consensus All-American status, puts seven Atlantic Coast Conference players on its 2020 pre-season first crew, including Cisco and Clemson’s stellar quarterback, Trevor Lawrence.
The ACC’s seven picks on the pre-season All-American first squad is second around the country, as the Southeastern Conference has recorded eight selections. The Big Ten Conference has four and the Pac-12 Conference has three on the first unit.
Along with Cisco, the other defensive backs on the Sporting News’ first team are LSU’s Derek Stingley Jr., Ohio State’s Shaun Wade and Georgia’s Richard LeCounte.
The second squad’s defensive backs are Alabama’s Patrick Surtain II, Appalachian State’s Shaun Jolly, Virginia Tech’s Caleb Farley and Pittsburgh’s Paris Ford. It’s worth noting that three of the eight defensive backs on the first and second groups are ACC players.
The pre-season acclaim for Syracuse football safety Andre Cisco keeps on piling up.
"In its write-up on Cisco, here’s what the Sporting News had to say. “Cisco compiled 12 interceptions and 14 pass breakups the past two seasons for the Orange, and he’s done that while averaging more than 40 tackles. He’s a rangy safety who should continue to build on those elite skills for the next level.”"
Beyond his pre-season All-American praise, Cisco is landing 2021 NFL Draft buzz, he’s on the watch list for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, and Cisco is rated as a top-10 ACC player via College Football News.
"According to a press release from the ‘Cuse athletics department on Cisco’s inclusion by Sporting News, “he ranks second among current FBS players in passes defended per game (1.27). In 22 games, Cisco has 125 career tackles, 28 passes defended, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery to go along with his 12 picks.”"
