Syracuse football is getting involved early on with promising 2023 pro-style quarterback Drew Viotto.

Drew Viotto is only a rising sophomore from the greater Detroit area, yet Syracuse football has already begun its pursuit of the pro-style quarterback.

Orange coaches recently offered a scholarship to the 6-foot-3, 210-pound Viotto, a 2023 prospect who currently attends Walled Lake Western High School in Walled Lake, Mich.

At present, he holds other offers from Bowling Green and Central Michigan, according to Viotto’s bios on the 247Sports Web site and Rivals.com.

He’s not rated at this juncture by either recruiting service, but that is at least partly because those two Web sites don’t have their rankings up for 2023 high-school players.

On qbhitlist.com, a recruiting Web site that focuses solely on evaluating and ranking quarterbacks, Viotto is slotted as two stars for the moment.

In its evaluation of Viotto, qbhitlist.com says that he has “excellent size” for a 2023 pro-style quarterback prospect.

The evaluation notes, among other things, that Viotto gets the ball out quickly, has solid field vision and agility, can run well, displays “very good accuracy,” has throws that “include a tight spiral,” and has a strong arm.

"Viotto possesses admirable poise, per qbhitlist.com: “Picks up on the defensive pressure. Good feel for the space around him. He’s a confident QB who is not afraid to take chances downfield.”"

More high-major offers should roll in for Syracuse football QB target Drew Viotto.

Back in late May, Viotto conducted an interview with Ryan Wright, a national recruiting director for Recruiting News Guru, which included some interesting tidbits.

Wright wrote that as a freshman during the 2019 campaign, Viotto played for the Walled Lake Western High School junior-varsity team, where he accumulated 2,234 passing yards with 22 touchdowns, while connecting on more than 80 percent of his pass attempts.

In terms of other collegiate programs that have shown interest in Viotto, he mentions Toledo, Michigan, Missouri State and Purdue. Looking ahead to his sophomore stint, Viotto tells Wright that he hopes to pass for more than 2,500 yards, and he will also serve as a back-up on the varsity squad.

“The goal is to be better as a player and to get better each year as much as possible,” Viotto says.

Sounds like the ‘Cuse, which has also extended offers to quarterbacks in the 2021 and 2022 recruiting cycles of late, has found an intriguing young prospect in Viotto.
