Syracuse football junior safety Andre Cisco is getting some pre-season All-American praise, but not from Walter Camp.

Walter Camp, which named its inaugural All-American squad in 1889, has unveiled its 2020 pre-season All-American first and second teams, and Syracuse football junior safety Andre Cisco didn’t make the cut.

The 6-foot, 206-pound Cisco, who hails from Valley Stream, N.Y., absolutely should have gotten included on either the first or second group, in my humble opinion. He’s a potential first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Atlantic Coast Conference issued a press release stating that nine league players, representing seven different schools, received inclusion on the first or second team. Among those on the first unit are Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Tigers running back Travis Etienne.

Per the Walter Camp announcement, the defensive backs on the two crews are from Appalachian State, Oregon, Washington, LSU, Stanford, Alabama, TCU and Ohio State.

Syracuse football junior safety Andre Cisco got left out by Walter Camp, but he has secured other pre-season accolades.

Cisco, a member of the 2018 Associated Press All-American third team as a true freshman, recently landed on the watch list for the 2020 Lott IMPACT Trophy, a national defensive player of the year award that recognizes both athletic performance and personal character.

The current Football Bowl Subdivision leader with 12 career interceptions, Cisco also got selected by Street & Smith as a pre-season first-team All-American not too long ago.

In terms of the Walter Camp All-American squads, it’s a bummer that Cisco isn’t on either of the pre-season crews, but he will have every opportunity to work his way onto one of these teams by excelling on the field.

As I always like to say, where you start is something to monitor, but where you finish is what matters the most. When the votes are tallied and the Walter Camp All-American honorees are chosen in late November, hopefully, Cisco finds himself included in the 131st edition of this storied group’s first team.
