Frank Anselem, a 2020 four-star center, didn’t waste much time at all signing on the dotted line with Syracuse basketball.
Frank Anselem, an athletic, confident and humble young man who verbally committed to Syracuse basketball about a week ago, is now officially a member of the Orange program.
The university’s athletics department announced via cuse.com that the 6-foot-10, 220-pound center, a four-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting cycle, has signed his national letter of intent to enroll at SU and play hoops for head coach Jim Boeheim and his crew.
A native of Lagos, Nigeria, Anselem has lived in Suwanee, Ga., since coming to the United States, per the press release. He most recently attended Prolific Prep in Napa Valley, Calif.
Originally, Anselem was a top-100 guy in the 2021 class. When he elected to reclassify to the 2020 class not too long ago, Anselem unsurprisingly fell in the rankings, but honestly these ratings don’t mean all that much to me.
Even still, he is a top-25 center in the 2020 class. His offensive and defensive skill sets are intriguing, promising and altogether exciting. Equally as important, Anselem is an extremely coachable player who works hard both in the gym, and in the classroom.
Syracuse basketball commit Frank Anselem has inked his national letter of intent.
According to the cuse.com statement, Anselem helped Prolific Prep to the 2020 Grind Session World Championship, where he recorded 14 points and seven boards in the championship-clinching contest against Our Savior Lutheran.
Additionally, Prolific Prep earned the No. 8 seed in the 2020 GEICO Nationals, but unfortunately that event got canceled due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
At the ‘Cuse, Anselem comes on board to a 2020 recruiting class that is really well balanced. The group also features four-star combo guard Kadary Richmond, four-star power forward Woody Newton, and Illinois transfer Alan Griffin, a rising junior wing who hopefully will receive an NCAA waiver to immediately play.
Anselem, by the way, selected Syracuse over Georgia, San Diego State and New Mexico. Welcome to Orange Nation, Frank!
