Syracuse football commitment by Hayden Nelson highlights flurry of news

There are lot of recent Syracuse football developments to digest, led by the commitment of 2021 three-star defensive lineman Hayden Nelson.
Hayden Nelson, a three-star defensive lineman in the class of 2021, has committed to Syracuse football, bolstering the Orange’s inventory on the defensive line.
Nelson, who attends Brookfield Central High School in Brookfield, Wis., joins other recent ‘Cuse commits including 2020 inside linebacker Anwar Sparrow and 2021 defensive tackle Jaelin Moss.
The 6-foot-4, 248-pound Nelson, ranked by 247Sports as the No. 59 weak-side defensive end across the country in the 2021 recruiting cycle, selected Syracuse from a group of nine finalists that also included Buffalo, Indiana, Iowa, North Dakota State and Western Michigan.
This commitment by Nelson, which he announced via Twitter, comes amid a lot of activity for the Orange football squad of late. Let’s delve into some of what has transpired, or is expected to occur in the near future, relative to the ‘Cuse.
Landon Morris, a three-star wide receiver in the class of 2021, said on Twitter that he plans to unveil his collegiate destination on May 26. He is choosing from Syracuse, Iowa State and UCF. Morris previously had Boston College in his trio of finalists, but elected to swap out the Eagles in favor of UCF.
Riley Leonard, a 2021 quarterback, posted this past Sunday on Twitter that the Orange has offered him a scholarship. Leonard, out of Fairhope High School in Fairhope, Ala., has also recently secured offers from several other crews, such as Duke, South Alabama and Tulane.
Jayson Raines, a three-star wide receiver in the 2021 class, has whittled down his list of contenders to eight programs, and the ‘Cuse has made the cut. Raines, from West Orange High School in West Orange, N.J., is the No. 146 wide-out in the 2021 recruiting cycle, per 247Sports.
Besides Syracuse, Raines still has in the running Pittsburgh, Princeton, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Yale and Miami, according to his Twitter account.
Finally, the Orange has made scholarship offers to guys including 2022 defensive end Tajae Broadie, 2021 outside linebacker Jason Henderson and 2022 inside linebacker Domanick Moon.
