Former Syracuse football standout Alton Robinson is headed to the next level. In the 2020 NFL Draft, he was selected with the 148th overall pick in the fifth round by the Seattle Seahawks.
Robinson became the second selection in the fifth round of the draft. Seattle went in searching for an edge rusher and they filled that need with the former Orange defensive end.
Alton Robinson becomes the highest selection in the NFL Draft for Syracuse since Jay Bromley was taken with the 74th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
For Syracuse Robinson was a top pass-rusher and had an outstanding season in 2018. He finished his junior year with ten sacks and 17 tackles for loss. Alongside Kendall Coleman, that duo recorded the most sacks in the conference in 2018. With those stats, he also received accolades in his collegiate career. Robinson was a two-time All-ACC selection including second-team honors in 2018 and an honorable mention this season.

Syracuse also hasn’t had two players selected in the same draft since 2014 as well. In that year, Jay Bromley and Marquis Spruill were the Orange bound for the NFL. With Robinson off the board, Syracuse needs one more player to be selected to match the 2014 numbers.
Wide receiver Trishton Jackson is a name to watch out for in the later rounds of the draft. Another option from ‘Cuse could be punter Sterling Hofrichter to hear his name called in the late rounds. Potentially defensive lineman Kendall Coleman could also make it into the back half of this year’s draft.
