Syracuse Football fans and media reacted on social media when defensive end Alton Robinson was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round.
Syracuse Football may not have had a player drafted on the first two days of the 2020 NFL draft, but on Day 3 (Rounds 4-7) the Orange finally had one. Star defensive end Alton Robinson was selected by the Seattle Seahawks.
In his years on the Hill, Robinson dominated the defensive line, terrorizing opposing quarterbacks off the edge, ruining their rhythm. His constant pressure forced opposing quarterbacks into bad throws and made them get rid of the ball quickly. When they didn’t, he would wrap them up for a sack.
In fact, according to Cuse.com, Robinson compiled 46 tackles, 9.5 were for a loss, and 4.5 sacks last season. Those numbers may not jump off the page, but that doesn’t account for all the double-teams he faced, and the competition he faced in the ACC. His performance in 2019 also earned him an All-ACC Honorable mention as well.
Robinson has an exceptional motor and drive and will be a welcome addition to the Seahawks. He will probably earn a spot on the opening day roster just because he has the drive to win. He may not start but will be most likely be an above-average backup to start his career.
Personally, I love the pick by the Seahawks. He’ll be entering a winning culture and has a good chance of getting a Super Bowl ring early in his career. The Seahawks are buying into a guy who plays hard and leaves it all out on the field. He is also a good locker room guy and the type of individual who you want on your team for years to come. I see him staying in the league and having moderate success for at the next 5-7 years, and if he develops more, possibly longer.
So what are the media and fans thinking? We checked Twitter to check the reaction to the pick:

#Syracuse’s Alton Robinson is the second defensive end the @Seahawks have taken in this draft behind Tennessee’s Darrell Taylor who went in the 2nd round.

Not to mention, Seattle took Texas Tech OLB Jordyn Brooks in the 1st round—shaping a stacked defense for years to come.
