A pair of former Syracuse football studs are ready to make noise in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft. Here are the details and what it all means.

We’ve finally reached the week we’ve all been waiting for the 2020 NFL Draft. On any given year, the draft is one of the greatest spectacles the NFL presents, but this year is going to be special for a few different reasons.

To address the elephant in the room, the novel coronavirus has put everyone’s life in the spin cycle. That includes the draft which for the first time in history will be done remotely and virtually.

Another reason this draft is going to be special is because of the eligible former Syracuse football players that have entered the class.

This could be the first time we see multiple Orange alum taken in the same class since 2014 when Jay Bromley and Marquis Spruill were selected in the third and fifth rounds respectively.

Speaking of, Chad Reuter of NFL.com actually predicted that very thing in his latest monster seven-round mock draft.

player. 123. . EDGE. Dallas Cowboys. Alton Robinson. 4

In the fourth round, he has the Dallas Cowboys selecting Alton Robinson to fill their hole at edge rusher. In this simulation, he was the 123rd overall pick and would become the highest-drafted Orange player since Bromley back in 2014.

Robinson from pillar-to-post has been the No. 1 prospect out of Syracuse this year. He’s a stud pass rusher that still hasn’t reached his incredibly high ceiling. With the Cowboys, he could be another rotational piece in the mix as he develops the other facets of his game. Alton has the potential to be a double-digit sack guy for a long time.

New England Patriots. Trishton Jackson. 6. player. 47. . Wide Receiver

Also in his full seven-round mock draft he also had the New England Patriots getting in on the fun by selecting former Orange receiver Trishton Jackson with the 195th overall pick in the sixth round.

That would make him only the second Syracuse receiver to hear his name called in the last 15 years (Mike Williams being the other back in 2010).

Jackson only spent one year (and some change) on the hill, but his impact will be forever lasting. He was able to develop quickly and display a unique ability to make big plays whenever the football touched his hands.

While these are the only two former Syracuse football alum that cracked this mock draft, there’s optimism for several hopefuls including Kendall Coleman and Sterling Hofrichter to also hear their names called.

Everyone wants to be selected, but only a few are. After the 2020 NFL Draft concludes, we expect an entire list of Orange alum to get deals as undrafted free agents (we predicted perfect NFL landing spots for everyone here).
