There will be no fans in attendance for the Syracuse basketball vs Louisville game at the ACC Tournament. Here are all the details.

When Syracuse basketball faces off against Louisville in the third round of the ACC Tournament on Thursday evening there won’t be many fans in attendance.

The Orange earned that opportunity by beating North Carolina in the second round of the conference tournament 81 to 53 on Wednesday.

The reason that minimal fans will be in attendance is due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. It has raised enough concern to cause many sports entities to alter their plans of attack for upcoming scheduled sporting events.

The conference made the ground-breaking announcement in a press release to the media on Wednesday night:

"“In light of the rapidly changing landscape regarding COVID-19, the latest developments nationally from health authorities and today’s announcement by the NCAA COVID-19 Advisory Panel, the ACC will alter the remainder of the ACC Tournament. After consultation with the league’s presidents and athletic directors, it was determined that beginning Thursday, March 12, all games will be played with only essential tournament personnel, limited school administrators and student-athlete guests, broadcast television and credentialed media members present.”"

This falls in line with other conferences in college basketball that have made similar decisions including but not limited to the Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, American, and Atlantic 10. Earlier this week the Ivy League announced that it chose to outright cancel its conference tournament.

In addition to all of this news, the NCAA made a very similar announcement ahead of the March Madness tournament. No fans will be allowed to attend, although the games can still be heard on the radio, television, and through streaming services.

The only people that will be allowed to attend the rest of the ACC Tournament at this time are essential personnel, immediate family, and the respective teams and coaches.
