It’s official TBT, Boeheim’s Army of former Syracuse basketball players will return to the salt city in 2020. Here are all the details.
In 2019 TBT (The Basketball Tournament) visited the salt city for the first time ever. After a wildly successful trip, they want a 2020 encore.
Onondaga Community College’s SRC Arena will once again serve as a regional site from July 31 through August 2 this summer. The other regional sites will be revealed later this month.
This means that Boeheim’s Army will once again enjoy a home-field advantage with a slew of former Syracuse basketball players that’ll suit up.
Syracuse basketball head coach Jim Boeheim provided a statement regarding the news via the official press release:
"“The Basketball Tournament has been a wonderful experience for our fans and former players. Its ability to connect several generations of Syracuse basketball alumni is part of what makes TBT so special and unique. TBT is something I look forward to every year and support 100 percent. It will be great to see all of our loyal fans coming out to support our guys ”"
In addition, Eric Devendorf is the longest-tenured Boeheim’s Army player dating back to the outset of this tournament. He also provided a statement on the news via the official press release:
"“I’m excited for TBT to come back to Syracuse! I always love playing in front of the home fans and love being able to bring that excitement to the city in the summer. The support the fans give is unmatched! I’m looking forward to getting after it with my brothers again in front of our Orange Family.”"
Not only is this a fun nostalgic trip for Syracuse basketball fans who get to watch different eras of Orange compete with each other, but this tournament provides a second chance opportunity for players to get back into the big leagues.
According to the press release, 34 players have gone straight from TBT to signing a contract in the NBA.
If you’d like to buy tickets to the Syracuse regional for the upcoming tournament, they’re already on sale (more details here) as part of an exclusive Syracuse pre-sale from February 1 through February 18.
On March 15 the team application period opens and TBT begins on July 23 with all games being broadcast on ESPN.
