The Syracuse basketball team that lost to the Irish in the dome and the Orange hoops squad right now are totally different entities.

There’s a newfound swagger with this Syracuse squad that has manifested itself into a three-game winning streak and a redemption tour. After dropping some tough home conference games to the likes of Virginia and Virginia Tech, Syracuse turned around and beat those opponents on their own turf in the rematches. Could we see that again vs the Irish?

It seems like destiny at this point.

In the first matchup, the Orange allowed John Mooney to drop 28 points and collect 14 boards. With Syracuse’s lack of an inside presence, it’ll be nearly impossible to stop him, but you can hope to contain him.

Mike Brey has been utilizing a four-guard lineup recently and that would mean Mooney is alone in the middle, so hopefully, the Orange can beat him up a little and get him in foul trouble.

It’s going to be about the little things in this one. In the first matchup, one missed free throw was the difference from winning the game to sending it to overtime. This game will be no different, it’ll be a tight battle all the way to the end.

Give me Syracuse winning this one 77-71 over the Irish. It won’t be quite as high scoring as the last affair, but it’ll have its’ share of exciting moments.
