Former Syracuse football stud Alton Robinson has a chance to end the drought in the 2020 NFL Draft. Here are all the details and his latest draft stock.

In the rich history of Syracuse football, 21 players (including the supplemental draft) have been lucky enough to hear their names called in the first round of the NFL draft.

Although the last time an Orange star was selected in round one was over seven years ago (Justin Pugh, 19th overall, 2013).

If that drought is going to end in the 2020 NFL Draft, Syracuse’s best chance is defensive lineman Alton Robinson.

In the latest ‘big boards’ from The Draft Network panel the opinions vary on Robinson:

"Joe Marino: 73rdTrevor Sikkema: 76thJonah Tuls: 80thJordan Reid: 83rdKyle Crabbs: 90thBenjamin Solak: 92nd"

Although the consensus says that Alton Robinson is a top-100 player on every board among The Draft Network’s experts.

Currently, his NFL draft stock (prior to the Senior Bowl) is as high as 50th overall and no lower than 76th via The Draft Network’s Player Rankings simulation (25 mock drafts).

While using the other setting, The Draft Network’s Predictive Board, his stock was a bit lower: Alton’s highest draft stock was 75th overall and his lowest was 100th overall (25 mock drafts).

So, in other words, depending on who you talk to Alton is considered a second-round prospect with a floor around the fourth round.

Although that won’t be the final epitaph written on Robinson’s draft report card, he still has several months to change the opinions of the 32 NFL teams. That all starts in Mobile Alabama for the 2020 Senior Bowl.

Players have an opportunity on a national stage to prove themselves in front of coaches, general managers, and scouts. The 2020 Senior Bowl will be on Saturday, January 25 at 2:30 p.m., but arguably the entire week of practice leading in is even more important.

Alton Robinson will get a chance to go through a gambit of drills and 1-on-1 opportunities to display his talents. Plus off the field, he’ll get to meet with NFL teams for formal and informal conversations to learn more about him.

With a strong Senior Bowl week, Alton Robinson can go from fringe second-rounder to a bonafide first-round pick.
