Syracuse has very few pelts on the wall that they can show off to the committee, Virginia Tech presents a unique opportunity to add to that.

The Hokies are 10-4 on the season and have multiple big wins: on the road vs Clemson, beat No. 3 Michigan State and they’ve competed against the best with two top-25 battles vs Virginia and Duke.

Buzz Wiliams is no longer at the helm for Virginia Tech, instead, it’s Mike Young who is formerly of Wofford. Young brings a talented Virginia Tech team into the dome that has the ability to stroke it from deep.

Three players on their squad average at least 43 percent from deep so Syracuse will have to mind its p’s and q’s. The 2-3 zone has been quite the leaky faucet so far this season allowing multiple teams to go off.

Although the x-factor in this game is the battle of the boards.

According to the metrics, Syracuse and Virginia Tech average around the same amount of rebounds a game. But after facing several teams with a dominant inside presence, it’ll be nice for things to be a bit more even-steven.

Jesse Edwards hasn’t played in three straight games which means it’s Bourama Sidibe or bust. Although Marek Dolezaj has done a very solid job on the inside all things considered.

If the Orange can get those second-chance opportunities and force some turnovers (and convert them), they could cruise to victory. Give me the Orange in a late-night affair 79-66.
